If I am being completely honest, when I re-watched this film a couple of years ago the scene in which Bambi's mother is shot and killed by a deer hunter didn't make me in the least emotional. Perhaps a lot of this has to do with the fact that the film is so old, and Disney were at this point too afraid to show such horrific death scenes in movie made for a child audience. That said, I know how iconic this scene is, and if I were to exclude it from a high position of this list people would probably bite my head off in the comments section (and I've already gone into some depth with you about my fear of being eaten alive). I also know that many, many, many of you consider this Disney's saddest death scene and even though I do not agree, I can understand why. Any scene showing any person or anything what-so-ever mother dying is bound to be highly emotional, and the next scene on this list deals with exactly that. I would also like to say that had this list been about sad moments between protagonists and their mothers in Disney movies I would have probably given the top spot to Dumbo and his mother... I don't know why but any scene these two share together in that film make me far more emotional than Bambi and his mother ever did. I think a lot of this has to do with the fact that Bambi is a pretty uneventful Disney film, and despite the fact that this death scene is perhaps Disney's most famous scene of all time, I doubt all that many people would consider Bambi as there favorite Disney film... or maybe you would?
