Another underground fight club movie - but with an impressive cast of MMA stars including Gina Carano, Kimbo Slice, Bob Sapp... okay, well only Carano really earns the "impressive" moniker, but they're still some pretty marketable names. And while a lot of action movies have featured mixed martial artists (the most recent Scorpion King comes to mind), few use them well. Blood and Bone at least has these fighters in their element. The movie stars Michael Jai White Isiah Bone, an ex-con who gets involved with the L.A. fight scene and the local mob. It's not much on imagination - that's the plot line of about half the MMA themed movies out there - but it gets marks for having that sort of B-movie charm that Machete and Black Dynamite mined. Of course, while those films did it knowingly, Blood and Bone has no idea that it's being unintentionally hilarious.
