10 Greatest James Bond Themes In The History of the Franchise

2. You Know My Name (from "Casino Royale ") - Chris Cornell

The second Bond reboot found the series being brought into a modern context. Bond became a grittier, more realistic character, with a deadlier edge and a wearier outlook. The charm and the sex appeal were still there, but reality and the current geopolitical climate helped make 007 into more of a deadly adversary and less of a walking punchline. Indeed, the film€™s opening only confirms this approach in its title sequence, driven by Cornell€™s four minute character bible for 007 himself. Everyone knows his name, everyone knows his skills, and everyone knows what they€™re in for if James Bond is brought into a scenario. The world had seemed to forget the darker side of the character starting with Roger Moore and running through Pierce Brosnan. (Timothy Dalton, no matter how dark, just wasn€™t accepted as Bond in the 80€™s. Ironic, considering that his portrayal is not only closer to Fleming€™s vision, but it is also a prototype for Daniel Craig€™s approach.) By time Soundgarden€™s front man had screamed his final reassurance that we knew Bond€™s name, there was no doubt that theater goers were in agreement.
