As with Citizen Kane, this too had to make my list, and has also been parodied, particularly in The Simpsons. It is probably one of the best plot twists in cinema - Taylor and Nova following the shoreline and eventually discovering the charred remnants of the Statue of Liberty, revealing that the planet they had been inhabiting that they had up until now believed as "alien", is actually post-apocalyptic Earth is one of the most iconic scenes in cinema.
