10 Greatest Superhero Movie Endings Of All Time

10. Superman

It's crazy that Richard Donner's Superman has hit the forty-year mark and yet, still stands the test of time. It's corny as hell but its gorgeous score, creative effects, and Christopher Reeve's perfect depiction of the Last Son of Krypton made the film such a hit, it ignited the entire superhero genre. But even after fifty bajillion comic book adaptations, Donner's film is still one of the best.

Although Supes is uncompromisable and will never stop fighting the good fight, what makes him truly iconic is his ability to achieve the impossible. After Lex Luthor detonates a missile at the San Andreas Fault, it decimates the area, killing Lois Lane.

Defying his father's orders not to interfere in human history, he travels at the speed of light, turning back time several minutes, allowing him to prevent Lois' death.

After sending Luthor to jail, we see Superman smile into the camera as he flies over the Earth, reassuring us that he will always be here to protect the world. Coupling the shot with John Williams masterful score has made this moment stand the test of time.
