10 Harry Potter Book Characters We Wish Were In The Movies
5. Winky
The Goblet of Fire adaptation is a mixed bag. Whilst the Triwizard Tournament looks great, there’s a depressing amount of missing content.
Barty Crouch Junior – who is the most underrated villain in the whole series – has a fascinating backstory that encompasses his mother’s death, his father’s shame, the disappearance of Bertha Jorkins, and a lot of Polyjuice Potion.
By cutting Winky (the Crouch family’s house-elf) from the narrative, this has a knock-on effect. Crouch Junior’s backstory doesn’t add up without her involvement, and Winky’s absence means the Hogwarts kitchens don’t make an appearance, either.
Whilst Winky is a pretty annoying character – she just cries most of the time – she’s integral to some of the more interesting details of Harry’s fourth adventure.
