When Sam Taylor-Johnson's big screen version finally hit theatres, even fans of the source material must have been wondering how so-called 'erotic fiction' could be rendered so dull in live action.

Of course, it didn't help that stars Dakota Johnson and Jamie Dornan generated precisely zero chemistry together, and reportedly don't get along off-screen either.
