10 Highest-Grossing Movies Of 2015 (So Far) - Ranked From Worst To Best

5. Jurassic World

Jurassic World was guaranteed to be a massive commercial hit, but it would be fair to say that the record-breaking success of the movie came as a surprise to almost everyone. Just a week after it hit theaters, the fourth entry in the franchise is already the third biggest hit of 2015, and is set to cross the $1.5bn mark with ease if it can maintain its current pace.

Labeling Jurassic World as 'the best since the original' could be construed as faint praise, but that would be doing the movie a disservice. While there are plenty of shortcomings in the plot, dialogue, logic and character departments, Colin Treverrow proved to be an inspired choice as director, delivering an action-packed summer blockbuster loaded with visual flourish and sheer spectacle. Its almost hard to believe that this is only his second feature after $800,000 indie Safety Not Guaranteed...

Becoming the first movie in history to score a worldwide opening weekend of over $500m, Jurassic World also broke the domestic record thanks to an incredible $208.8m bow, taking the crown from The Avengers. The movie is tracking well ahead of Marvel's superhero team-up both at home and overseas at this point, and could become the third highest-grossing movie in history in just a matter of weeks if it holds up against the upcoming competition.
