10 Highest-Grossing Movies Of 2015 (So Far) - Ranked From Worst To Best
3. Furious 7
Everyone knew Furious 7 was going to be a massive hit, but nobody expected it to be this big; after scoring one of the ten biggest domestic opening weekends of all time, the movie was the fastest ever to reach $1bn worldwide, became only the third movie in history to earn over a billion at the international box office and is now the highest-grossing movie ever released in China.
And if that wasn't enough, Furious 7 is only a few million dollars behind the $1.518bn total of The Avengers on the all-time worldwide box office chart (although Age Of Ultron has every chance of catching up over the next few weeks). Not bad for a series that started off almost 15 years ago as a thinly-veiled remake of Point Break set in the world of street racing...
As for the movie itself? Director James Wan takes over from series stalwart Justin Lin and makes a seamless transition to blockbuster filmmaking in delivering all of the logic, physics and gravity-defying action that you've come to expect from the increasingly implausible and over-the-top franchise, while also simultaneously managing to deliver a heartfelt and poignant tribute to the late Paul Walker.
