10 Highest-Grossing Movies Of 2017 (So Far) - Ranked From Worst To Best
10. Fifty Shades Darker
An 'erotic thriller' that is about as erotic and thrilling as being repeatedly slapped in the face with a large salmon, James Foley's turgid sequel sees the Fifty Shades series well on its way to becoming one of the worst movie franchises in the history of a cinema.
Both the acting and writing is terrible from top to bottom, leads Dakota Johnson and Jamie Dornan somehow manage to have even less chemistry this time round, the direction is workmanlike and uninspired and the whole narrative is just a mess. On a base level, its a by-the-numbers late-night 'steamy' TV movie dressed up with a $55m budget.
Yet as the old saying goes, there is an ass for every seat in this life and Fifty Shades Darker still managed to earn $378.8m at the box office, making it the tenth biggest earner of the year so far. However, that is almost $200m less than its predecessor so thankfully it seems that even fans of the source material are beginning to cotton on to the fact that these movies are just awful.
