10. Ellis Wants Cocaine, Gets A Coke Instead - Die Hard
Of the many great supporting characters in Die Hard, one of the absolute best is Ellis (Hart Bochner), the drug-huffing sleazebag boss of John McClane's (Bruce Willis) estranged wife Holly (Bonnie Bedelia).
Ellis memorably gets in over his head by offering to serve McClane up to terrorist Hans Gruber (Alan Rickman), and while he "negotiates" over the phone with John, one of Gruber's henchmen hilariously pours the guy an ice-cold glass of Coca Cola.
And while this seems like a pretty on-the-level gag, the likely truth is that Ellis, who is seen snorting cocaine earlier in the film, casually asked the terrorists if they had any "coke."
Due to either the language barrier or the terrorists simply deciding to troll him, they return with a can of the bubbly stuff rather than some white powder.
Before you dismiss this as a cute coincidence, the gag appears the exact same way in the original script, right down to the drink being a Coke rather than any other soft drink.
And yet despite how obvious a joke it might seem, who among us ever picked up on it?
