8. Heihei Tries To Eat The Rock...In Every Sense - Moana
Moana is a refreshingly unique Disney animation that gets a ton of mileage out of Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson's casting as demigod Maui, with numerous references to his pro wrestling past - namely an hilarious, if obvious, gag where he raises the People's Eyebrow.
But the real kicker is a joke that most viewers didn't even notice. Early in the movie, a villager observes that Moana's (Auliʻi Cravalho) pet rooster Heihei (Alan Tudyk) is trying to eat a large rock, adding, "I'm curious about that chicken...eating the rock."
This ultimately ends up foreshadowing a later moment in the movie where Heihei attempts to eat Maui - that is, The Rock - to a much greater level of misguided failure.
Above all else, the curious emphasis the villager places on saying "The Rock" makes the double meaning totally clear.
Fun fact: roosters do actually intentionally consume small rocks in order to help grind up their food. Hulking demigods? Not so much.
