5. Lillo Brancato, Jr.

Lillo Brancato, Jr. is probably best known as Calogero "C" Anello in the 1993 film A Bronx Tale. Playing the son of Robert De Niro and the son-figure to Chazz Palminteri. The actor perhaps took a few lessons from that film and realized that the "working man is a sucker" and turned to a life of crime (or at least a day of crime). On December 10, 2005, Brancato was arrested in the Bronx on suspicion of murdering an off-duty police officer. The officer confronted Brancato and an accomplice outside of a vacant house where a gunfight subsequently ensued. The police officer died and Brancato and his accomplice were left with multiple gunshot wounds. The accomplice was convicted of first-degree murder, on October 30, 2008; and was sentenced to life in prison without parole. Brancato went on trial in late 2008. On December 22, 2008, a jury found him not guilty of murder, but found him guilty of first-degree attempted burglary. He was sentenced to 10 years in prison. On December 31, 2013, he was released on parole, much to the surprise of many.
