10 Horribly Incompetent Movie Directors Who Keep Getting Work

By T.J. Barnard /

Look, I know how hard it is to make a good movie. The odds are against you from the start. There are too many variables involved to ensure, even if you do your job incredibly well, that the final product is going turn out to be something that people will be glad that they paid to see. That said, the odds should also weigh in your favour from time to time, surely? I mean, it's not possible to just make bad movie after bad movie after bad movie, is it? Apparently so. Some directors - those who continue to hand in constitently shoddy products, year after year - still have jobs. After all, if their awful movies make a ton of money, the studios aren't going to complain, are they? If that happens six times in a row, well... when can you start on the next one? In a lot of ways, we're the ones to blame. If we want M. Night Shyamalan to stop making movies, we have to stop going to see them. Here I've assembled 10 horribly incompetent movies directors who, despite having what can only be described as "no talent in them at all," continue to find work in Hollywood. Whether or not it's because their movies continue to make big bucks at the box office, despite being terrible in every way, or because their uncle works as an executive over at New Line, these guys should really consider doing something else for a while... Note: M. Night Shyamalan, as it happens, isn't on this list. He's just a rather horrible writer, and not necessarily a horrible director. I'm also not including Uwe Boll, because he usually funds his own movies.
