10 Horror Film Remakes You Didn't Know Were In The Works

6. The Orphanage

If you didn't know about this one, chances are maybe you had heard at one point, but subsequently forgot. It's been doing the rounds for that long. The original, Spanish feature (produced by Guillermo del Toro and directed by J.A. Bayona) saw spooky goings on in a recently re-opened orphanage with a dark past. Its spooky visuals, fairy tale story and haunting atmosphere made it ripe for pilfering for English language audiences. Read: heathens who don't like to read subtitles. New Line booked it in for a remake all the way back in 2008, with Amy Adams set to star. Clearly, that didn't happen, but one suspects that it's still on the cards - studios hate to let a good idea be, after all, and The Orphanage is one of the best.
