10 Horror Franchises You Didn’t Realise Were Returning In 2024
10. Silent Hill
For those Silent Hill fans aware of a big-screen return for the IP later this year, there's likely an extreme sense of nerves mixed in with a smidge of anticipation.
Of course, the reason for those nerves is that there have been two Silent Hill movies to date, and neither were exactly spectacular. To be fair, 2006's Silent Hill was okay - average and unremarkable, yet not totally awful - but 2012's Silent Hill: Revelation was a proper stinker.
So while those prior two pictures mean expectations are somewhat low for what's titled Return to Silent Hill, the reason for some excitement for this film is that it's based on the exceptional Silent Hill 2 video game.
Expected to release towards the middle of the year, Return to Silent Hill stars The Woman in Black: Angel of Death's Jeremy Irvine as James Sunderland, a distraught husband searching for his wife in the titular town as he comes up against twisted monsters, eerie imagery, and has to deal with his own dwindling sanity.
Christophe Gans, who helmed the first Silent Hill movie, is back on directing duties here, and rumblings suggest the long-awaited video game remake of Silent Hill 2 may also finally arrive later in 2024 - which would certainly serve as a timely shot in the arm for Return to Silent Hill.
