10 Horror Movie Endings That Pissed Everyone Off

Sometimes all it takes is one bad line to annoy everybody.

More than any other genre, horror has such huge potential to deliver movie endings that go completely t*ts up.

After all, this is a genre that trades in last-minute twists and surprise left-field turns to give audiences one final shock. Sometimes, these moments can elevate good horror movies into great ones, but if a director misjudges the landing, the whole thing can come down to earth with a thud.

While there are plenty of muted endings that only elicit a shrug (often via a tease for a sequel), there are others that actively manage to piss off their audience. These are the kind of finales that live in infamy - whether they're a single line that breaks everything or an epilogue that drags something on for far longer than anyone needed - and have remained a topic of conversation between horror fans for years.

So, from cuts to black that ask you to go to a website that tells you what really happened to some of the worst one-liners you've ever heard, these are endings that pissed off horror fans.

10. The Lame Killer Reveal - Spiral: From The Book Of Saw

While critics hated Spiral: From the Book of Saw, it actually went down pretty well with audiences. However one thing we can all agree was totally lame was the reveal of the new Jigsaw successor.

Saw movies are made or broken on their big third-act twists, and the issue with Spiral is that it's the most obvious one in the entire franchise. This spin-off focuses on Chris Rock's grizzled detective Zeke hunting down a Jigsaw imitator with the help of his new rookie partner, William Shenk.

As it becomes clear the killer is targeting cops, a whole bunch of people in Zeke's department turn up as corpses, including Shenk. The thing is though, Shenk is the only one killed in a trap off screen, making it immediately obvious that he'll reappear as the culprit behind the whole thing. Surprise, surprise, scored to the iconic Saw theme, this is exactly what happens.

It's such a frustrating ending because the reveal is so blatant that you almost expect it to be a red herring to throw fans off the real twist to come. Alas, that was just wishful thinking. Everyone saw this coming, and no matter how hard the music made you think you were watching something epic, it was a total letdown.
