10 Horror Movie Franchises That Never Seem To End
10. Leprechaun
Who would have thought a little horror movie from 1993 about a murderous leprechaun looking for his pot of gold would lead to a franchise that led to 6 sequels and an attempted reboot?
Throughout the twenty-seven year journey of Leprechaun, Warwick Davis played the character six times across the franchises eight films. In those films the Leprechaun has certainly got some air miles in. He went to Vegas in Leprechaun 3, then to space in Leprechaun 4, to the hood in Leprechaun in the Hood, and then went back to the hood in the aptly named Leprechaun: Back 2 Tha Hood. Not bad for a mythical creature.
After Davis hung up his green hat in 2003, the series was rebooted eleven years later in 2014 with the unexpected help of WWE Studios, and WWE wrestler Hornswoggle playing the titular character. Despite being called Leprechaun: Origins, the reboot led to nothing.
In another attempt to keep the series going, a direct sequel to the first film was then released in 2018 through Syfy simply called Leprechaun Returns. If history is anything to go by, another Leprechaun will likely be in our future. His next stop? Surely it has to be Wall Street.
