10 Horror Movie Robots That Scared Us Out Of Our Minds
10. M.A.R.K. 13 - Hardware
Hardware takes place in world ravaged by radiation, forcing scavengers to sell scrap metal to survive. When a nomad called Moses activates the head of a military robot, it assembles a new body, and goes on a killing spree.
Upon investigation, Moses and his friends discover the government created this machine, which is called the M.A.R.K. 13, to prevent overpopulation.
Although there's no short supply of murderous robots in movies, M.A.R.K. 13 is among the few who intends to slay every human on Earth single-handedly. Even his name reflects this, since he's named after the biblical passage, Mark 13:20, which reads "No flesh shall be spared".
Despite his malicious intentions, you'd assume M.A.R.K. 13 isn't evil, since he's only carrying out his programming. However, this insect-like mechanoid seems to go out of his way to inflict pain. Rather than murdering his victims with surgical precision, he drills holes in their flesh and eyeballs, forcing them to experience unimaginable agony before perishing. He also seems to have a genuine disdain for humans, since he pummels and eviscerates his victims' bodies, even after he's slaughtered them.
