10 Horror Movies In 2023 You Need To Know About
10. Knock At The Cabin
M. Night Shyamalan is back with his latest enigmatic chiller - an adaptation of Paul G. Tremblay's acclaimed 2018 horror novel The Cabin at the End of the World.
The brilliantly mysterious trailer sets up the immediately compelling premise: a couple (Jonathan Groff and Ben Aldridge) and their daughter (Kristen Cui) head to a remote cabin for a holiday, only to receive a knock at the door from four strangers.
The leader, Leonard (Dave Bautista), insists that the family must make a "horrible decision," and if they don't, the world will end.
The trailer gives us no further context for the scenario, but certainly sets up an ominous, unsettling tone from the jump.
As hit-and-miss as Shyamalan can be as a filmmaker, this looks like his most self-contained, stripped-down film in recent years, and in drawing from quality source material, hopefully some of his greater excesses might get reined in a little.
Either way, it looks gut-wrenchingly suspenseful and touts a killer cast - also including Shyamalan's Servant collaborator Rupert Grint.
Knock at the Cabin releases on February 3.
