2. The Brass Floor Lamp - Amityville 4: The Evil Escapes

In this pointless sequel, Alice Leacock is gifted with a brass floor lamp, oblivious that a demon from the haunted Amityville house resides within.

The lamp has a gaggle of superpowers, including mind control, hallucinations, telekinesis, and infecting people with Tetanus (which is weirdly specific). It can also control electrical appliances in the house, turning on the garbage disposal or melting the phone to terrorise the Leacocks.

Not only is Amityville 4's entire concept preposterous, but it's made funnier by the fact that everybody takes it seriously. A priest speaks about the malevolent lamp with such sincerity, it's like he's talking about the Devil himself. A demon face sometimes appears on the bulb, which is likely to trigger unintentional giggling. Although it's meant to be upsetting when the lamp cooks the family's parrot in a toaster oven, viewers will be trying to figure out how the evil ornament stuffed the poor bird into the mini-cooker in the first place.

When something creepy happens, it's usually accompanied by a close-up of the wicked bulb with eerie music playing in the background. Every single time this happens, it's hard to believe Amityville 4: The Evil Escapes isn't a parody.
