10 Horror Movies So Good You Overlook Major Flaws

2. The Twist Falls Apart If You Think About It - The Sixth Sense

In The Sixth Sense, Bruce Willis' character, Dr. Malcolm Crowe, is tasked with helping a boy called Cole, who can see dead people. In the final scene, it's revealed Malcolm has been a ghost the whole time, without him or Cole realising.

Because of this shocking twist, The Sixth Sense is hailed as the ultimate "must-see twice movie". When you revisit M. Night Shyamlan's magnum opus, you are blown away by all the clues that Malcom was dead the whole time.

Unfortunately, this bombshell falls apart when you give it a bit of thought. Where does Malcolm go when he leaves Cole? Where is he staying? Does he realise he hasn't eaten, slept, or gone to the bathroom for months?

Now, because Cole says ghosts "don't know they're dead", it's possible Malcolm doesn't notice the passage of time the same way as the living. Also, you have to ignore some inconsistencies to enjoy the movie.

But there are some basic things that don't make sense. If no one hired Malcolm, how did he learn about Cole? In one scene, Cole enters his home, and sees his mother sitting down with Malcolm. What was he doing before Cole arrived? Was he just sitting with Cole's mum in silence?

Although The Sixth Sense is an astounding film, it's better if you don't think about it too much.
