10 Horror Movies That Sound Terrible (But Are Actually Great)

9. Final Destination 3

They don't have the best reputation, but the Final Destination movies are the best slashers of the 2000s. Yes, they do qualify as slashers; it's just that in this case, the killer is death itself. Despite its mixed reviews, the third installment is the most entertaining of all.

The movie follows the same basic premise as the previous two, with a group of friends avoiding an accident and then dying one by one. While the original movie tried hard to be genuinely scary and doesn't hold up all too well today, by Final Destination 3, James Wong has fully embraced the silliness. He plays it all straight, but you get the sense that nobody is taking this too seriously, and you should just kick back and have fun watching teenagers die in goofy ways.

The deaths are absolutely amazing and ridiculous, calling to mind classic '80s slashers. Who could forget Ashley and Ashlyn being burnt alive in a tanning bed, or Erin being hit with a nail gun over and over and over? There's also the super confident jock who screams about how he can't die before getting his head smashed in. While many 2000s slashers were too dark for their own good, Final Destination captures the fun that Friday the 13th and A Nightmare on Elm Street tapped into so many years ago.
