10 Horror Movies That Take Themselves Way Too Seriously

7. Ouija

Following a group of teenagers who unleash vengeful spirits from the eponymous board, Ouija is as bland and generic as they come.

The 2014 fright flick exhibits the usual clichéd plot, over-reliance on jump scares and uncompelling characters that audiences have come to expect from the genre's weakest offerings.

The film's played-out nature could have been forgivable in the context of a silly, over-the-top horror romp. Regrettably, Ouija doesn't even have the decency to cushion the blow from its own inherent awfulness. Stiles White's picture exhibits as much levity as a terminal illness diagnosis, failing to generate a single moment of wit across 89 minutes.

Miserably falling short of achieving the tone it aspires towards, the planchette for Ouija only spells out one sentence - avoid this film at all costs.
