10 Horror Movies That Will Make You Terrified Of Children

9. We Need To Talk About Kevin (2011)

Based on the novel by Lionel Shriver, We Need To Talk about Kevin is a psychological horror released in 2011, and was nominated for several awards. In the film, Eva (Tilda Swinton) is forced to endure public condemnation because of the actions of her son, a deranged killer responsible for several murders, including the murder of her own husband and daughter.

Told in retrospect, the film is about nature versus nurture, and deals predominantly with themes relating to child rearing, including the issue of parental responsibility. Should Eva be held answerable for her son’s actions, and is she accountable for his behaviour? In the film, the question is left ambiguous, allowing for a certain degree of interpretation, but regardless, there’s a horrendous sense of fatalistic inevitability that lingers throughout the film.

Verdict: We Need To Talk About Kevin will make you question your own proficiency as a parent, or it’ll just make you terrified of angsty looking teenagers. Either way, you’re in for a fright.
