10 Horror Movies That Will Put You Off Travelling After Watching

Those horror pictures that'll put an immediate halt to those big travel plans of yours.

By design, horror movies often end up instilling a sense of dread in their audience where it pertains to whatever particular topic is at the core of a picture.

For example, if you watch Jaws, you'll be terrified of sharks. If you watch Child's Play, you'll be terrified of dolls. If you watch It, you'll be terrified of clowns. And if you watch Death Bed: The Bed That Eats... well, you'll question what you're doing with your life.

One particular element of everyday life that horror has so often scared us to death about, is the notion of travel.

While a spotlight has previously been shone on 10 Most Terrifying Vacation Horror Movies, this time the attention is (largely) more on those films that are a tad smaller in scope and those offerings that will outright have you doing as little travelling as possible - be that due to the experiences on your travels or even by the method of travel itself.

Here, then, it's time to explore those awful hotel experiences, those terrible flights, those ropey rooms for rent, and continue to bang on about how heading to the ocean is always a bad idea.

10. Room For Rent

Lin Shaye is forever a favourite of many a horror hound, and 2019's Room for Rent gave Shaye the spotlight to fully take centre-stage.

While Shaye has often been utilised as a supporting player over the years, here she gets to take on the lead role of Joyce in this Tommy Stovall picture. Left widowed after her husband slips and falls from the roof of their family home, Joyce decides to rent out a room in her house in order to help make ends meet.

After years being reliant on her husband, Shaye's character struggles without a man in her life, and we soon see just how far she'll go to nab herself a partner when Oliver RayĆ³n's tall, dark and handsome Bob embarks on a lengthy stay at Joyce's abode.

Despite the warm, quaint demeanour of Joyce, she's nothing if not obsessive and controlling when it comes to her house guests. Late for dinner? That makes for an angry Joyce. Speak to the neighbours? That makes for an angry Joyce. Dare to flirt with someone? That makes for an angry Joyce.

By the time things wrap up with Room for Rent, we've got a couple of dead bodies and the potential for a sequel at some point down the line. We've also got a rental spot that you likely wouldn't be recommending when it comes to Airbnb feedback.
