10 Hyped 2017 Movies That Will Definitely Disappoint You

10. The Dark Tower

The Hype: The long-gestating adaptation of Stephen King's iconic novel series, starring Idris Elba and Matthew McConaughey.

Why It Will Disappoint: For starters, there's just an astronomical amount of fan expectation, it's an incredibly difficult property to adapt (hence the constantly stalled attempts to get it made), and the leaked trailer (which was admittedly a work-in-progress) didn't exactly look spectacular.

There's also sure to be a lot of hand-wringing about the looseness of this adaptation, which will apparently focus less on Elba's Roland Deschain and use young Jake Chambers (Tom Taylor) as a hand-hold for the audience.

Even putting fanboy nitpicking aside, this one has 35% on Rotten Tomatoes and box office failure written all over it, yet fan hopes are still sky-high.
