10 Incredibly Bleak Recent Movie Endings
7. Whistle
Sticking with the theme of death's destiny takes this list from Final Destination to Whistle, a 2026 outing that explored a familiar story, in that the characters were haunted by their own future deaths. This however, didn't come from any sort of revenge, but from, as the title suggests, a whistle.
The Aztec artifact from which the movie took its name, when blown, essentially laid down a target for the blower to be hunted down. It was a dark, supernatural thriller that of course has the potential and scope for more stories to be told, something that was teased in a post-credit scene.
The scene in question took place at the school, in which the whistle was blown in front a full auditorium of around 400 people, strongly suggesting that every single one of them was now in danger of its deadly consequences.
More than just a tease for a potential, full scale sequel dialed it up to ten and beyond, it showed the power of the supernatural entity. Even if no further films or stories follow the original, there's 400 children there that will be haunted, stalked, and likely brutally killed. Honestly, it's probably worse if their fates are left up to the audience's imagination.
