If there's one thing that Guardians of the Galaxy proved, it's that comic book movies can get away with some pretty crazy things - talking raccoons, walking trees, galactic museum-dwelling Liberaces, anthropomorphic talking ducks and jokes about walls looking like a Jackson Pollock painting under a black light to name but a few. That said, those kind of things don't necessarily work in all comic book movies, as Guardians of the Galaxy had a certain tone which made it very unique in the genre. Its crazy concept allowed for inclusions that would ruin other movies in the comic book genre, but they made Guardians of the Galaxy a surprise success and one of the most refreshing offerings of the year. For example, while there are elements of humour, implausible concepts and weird and wonderful characters in the movies involving the Avengers members, there's certainly a limit.
