You would think that a big-budget sci-fi blockbuster would give Tom Cruise a respite from his usual death-defying antics with the amount of CGI required in creating futuristic action scenes. Of course, both the star and director Steven Spielberg are known for their preference in using practical effects whenever possible, and Minority Report's thrilling hoverpack chase sees Cruise performing some of his most impressive stuntwork yet.The elaborate set-piece was filmed on the studio backlot so that the crew would have complete control of the scene, one that required the construction of a massive stunt rig that was 80 feet high and used over a mile of cable, not to mention dozens of crew members to operate it. The end result is one of the high points of the entire movie, with Cruise performing all of his own wire-work whether it be jumping off the side of a building, falling through the air or being dragged along the ground.
