10 Lesser Known Movies To Look Forward To In 2017
2. Wind River
On the verge of release, Wind River is the apparent next step in renaissance of Jeremy Renner; a Rennersance if you will. What’s perhaps most exciting about this release is that it’s the directorial debut of Taylor Sheridan; a man quickly garnering respect following his work writing both Sicario and Hell or High Water.
Situated in the back woods of the Wyoming wilderness, Wind River follows what transpires after a body is found on a Native American reservation. From what has already been released, Wind River seems like the muscular, post-Western thriller that we all need to slap this whole year into motion.
Alongside Renner will be Elizabeth Olsen, who as well as starring in the much anticipated ‘Ingrid Goes West’ is set up for a pretty impressive year.
Small woods on a vast scale seems an appropriate metaphor for this movie which will premiere at the Sundance Film Festival already taking place. From the initial screenshots filled with cowboy boots and snow-capped mountains; it seems like Wind River will tick all the boxes.
