10 Lesser Known Movies To Look Forward To In 2017
10. Berlin Syndrome
Cate Shortland could not be labelled as a director who
likes to churn out movies. Berlin Syndrome will be only her third full length
feature since her debut with Lore way back when in 2004. We’ve had more World
Cups than we have Shortland movies since then.
Still, good things come to those that are drip fed as her latest film is an adaptation of Melanie Joosten’s best seller that seems to depict the notion of wanderlust in an entirely literal sense of the word.
Lights Out’s Teresa Palmer stars in this thriller about a backpacking journalist who hooks up with a seemingly tall, dark and handsome German only for the passion to turn sinister as she is held captive by him the next morning. In fairness, the morning after a one night stand is never the easiest thing at the best of times.
The Sundance Festival looks pretty tasty this year, and Berlin Syndrome is one of the many reasons why.
