Comic book movies are absolutely teeming with Easter eggs and Warner Bros.' Man Of Steel was no different back in 2013. The majority of such Easter eggs are simply included for the fun of it - they're enjoyable for viewers to look out for and Man Of Steel included several that were nothing more than nods - but some have more relevance. Occasionally, Easter eggs can serve as predictions for future movies or as a foreshadowing of things to come, such as in the case of Iron Man 2 when Wakanda was shown on a map (Black Panther is on his way to the Marvel Cinematic Universe) or in the case of The Amazing Spider-Man 2 when a lot of recognisable villain paraphernalia was seen in the Oscorp building (the Sinister Six are on their way to that franchise). Now the the DC Cinematic Universe is set to expand with a bunch of movies that will ultimately lead to the Justice League fighting a major otherworldly threat, the seeds that were planted in Man Of Steel are starting to bear fruit and it's interesting to look back and see what might have been going through the director's mind with regards to the future of the franchise when he included them in the movie. This article is going to look at some of those seeds and explain exactly what they mean now that more movies are on the way. Here are ten Man Of Steel Easter eggs that will actually mean something in future DC movies...
Honourable Mention: The Open Sarcophagus
In Man Of Steel, there was a scene in which Clark Kent investigated a Kryptonian ship that had crash-landed on Earth. He found a number of pods inside - each of which housed one Kryptonian. One of the pods was open with no corpse inside, which sparked a lot of rumours. In the comic book that served as a prequel for the movie, Kara Zor-El - also known as Supergirl - was one of the Kryptonians in the ship that was preserved in one of the pods. At the end of the comic, someone is seen leaving the ship. There has been much debate about whether it was Kara or possibly the murderous Dev-Em. Regardless, the ship crash-landed 20,000 years ago, so the likelihood of that individual being around now seems very slim (unless they somehow survived the crash, explored Earth for a while, then got back in their pod and emerged recently), but some people do believe it will happen. And now on to the actual list...
