7. Tom Hiddleston - Avengers: Age Of Ultron
Idris Elba famously ingratiated himself to Marvel executives in the run up to Avengers: Age Of Ultron's cinematic release by very unsubtly announcing that he would be appearing in a cameo. And not only that, but he'd been shooting with Tom Hiddleston, confirming Loki's appearance alongside him.
Later, it was revealed that Hiddleston filmed his cameo as part of Thor's dream/vision sequence in which he discovered that Asgaard was in danger of Ragnarok. So why didn't he appear?
Well, you can thank the test audiences who found the scene too confusing (as well as wrongly thinking that it meant Loki was actually behind the creation of Ultron). Sigh.
It wouldn't have made sense anyway, since Thor thought Loki was dead at this point, but that could have been explained away as it being no more than a dream. Or something.
