7. Namor
What Happened
In a couple of background Easter Eggs in Iron Man 2, the presence of Namor the Submariner was strongly hinted. First a SHIELD map seemed to have a point marked in the open ocean where it's suspected Atlantis would be sited.
And the film also has references to Oracle, the company Namor uses as a front to hide his identity.
What it Teased
That Namor would be appearing at some point after Phase 1's end. It's not like Marvel ever seed characters so overtly without then delivering on them, even if there was some question over the movie rights of the character.
But Then...
Perhaps those rights ended up being too much of an issue, because we are yet to see Namor in the MCU. As Feige recent confirmed to IGN, there's still some complications there:
It is. I think there’s a way to probably figure it out but it does have — it’s not as a clean or clear as the majority of the other characters.
It might be worked out eventually (like when the other mutants appear), but for now, nothing.
