Released shortly after Endgame, the trailer for the new Spider-Man movie came out in a weird time, a moment when people were still grieving the death of Iron Man and the retirement of Captain America alongside processing all the events from Endgame.

And this moment perfectly encapsulated how everyone felt.

In the first few seconds of the trailer, we see Spider-Man swing through New York as always, only to stop and admire a mural of Tony Stark. Noting how no matter what he does, he always sees the legacy left behind by his father figure. Representing the expectations the character has to live up to and the grief that both he and the rest of the world experienced.

It’s a moment that represents legacy, the role Spider-Man would define moving forward. People didn’t know what to do now that Iron Man was gone. And this moment showed that the world of Marvel wasn’t ready for his departure either.
