10 Memorable Films That Utterly Defined 2012

6. Ted

If we're judging comedy by the standards seen in 2012, then Ted is the perfect movie to represent the genre for the year. Audiences flock to see comedies that are a little bit more crude than whatever came before them, and Ted represents this perfectly. While there was an abundance of stupid, non-hilarious, gross out movies in 2012 (That's My Boy, The Watch and Madea) that tried way too hard, Ted trumped them all. What elevates the film above the competition is that it's a genuinely heartwarming story while also being incredibly profane. It really does have its cake and eat it too, which is nearly impossible, no matter what genre a filmmaker is working in.
