One of the most aptly-titled songs to close any film, The Pixies' classic track saw a surge in new interest following the release of David Fincher's Fight Club, for it was employed in genius fashion to back the film's final shot. Project Mayhem's plan concludes with a dozen credit card buildings exploding, while Jack (Edward Norton) and Marla Singer (Helena Bonham Carter) watch on in amazement, holding hands, as that unforgettable guitar riff blasts out. It's a playfully mischievous song that is entirely in step with the similarly-inclined tone that defines the film, and of course, given Jack's mental schism that occurs throughout Fight Club, a song about someone losing their mind is only too apt. All at once, the song manages to be optimistic and a little sinister, reflecting Jack finally accepting Marla into his life, while realising the full extent of what the Tyler side of his possibility sought to achieve. Simply fantastic.
