Rumour has it that Warner Bros and DC were so impressed with Ben Afflecks performance as Batman that theyve now decided that he needs to be the foundation stone for the entire DC Extended Universe. Thats not really surprising, given the studios notoriously reactive approach to film-making and the following the same trail thats already lead to success. But that doesnt mean its the right idea. Not only is adding Batman to Superman to solve Man Of Steels problems ridiculously short-sighted, but the suggestion that the rest of the universe will do likewise sets a dangerous precedent. Will Wonder Woman be rebranded Batman Vs Wonder Women when someone realises its not going well? Are we likely to see Batman Vs Aquaman? You get the point: all adding Batman to everything does is remove the impact of the character, and run the risk of hurting him as an untouchable brand.
