10. Seth Gecko - From Dusk Till Dawn

In From Dusk 'Till Dawn, fugitive brothers Seth and Richie Gecko take Jacob Fuller and his family hostage to help them cross into Mexico, planning to meet the Geckos' criminal contact at a biker bar.

For the first hour, Seth doesn't just come across as a lowlife but irredeemable. This trigger-happy thief antagonises everybody he lays eyes on and emphasises he couldn't care less if the Fullers live or die. Of course, Seth changes his tune upon learning the bar he's in is a haven for vampires. With the odds stacked against him, he reluctantly allies with the Fullers, hoping to stay alive until dawn.

By the time day breaks, everyone is dead, save for Seth and Jacob's daughter, Kate. Rather than deserting her the first chance he gets, Seth gives Kate a wad of cash for her troubles and apologises for everything he put her through. Not knowing where to go, Kate asks Seth if she could join him. Concerned that staying with him would corrupt her, Seth turns Kate down.

Until the end, it seems like Seth only teamed up with the family to stand a better chance of survival, but in the final scene, it's apparent that Seth does have a conscience after all.
