10 More Horror Movie Reveals So Bad You Almost Walked Out
10. Tourist Trap
In Tourist Trap, Molly and her friends stumble upon a roadside wax museum after their car breaks down. While exploring, Molly's group finds themselves being hunted by a telekinetic maniac called Davey.
Molly and her companions are assisted by the museum's owner, Mr. Slausen, who happens to be Davey's brother. However, in the end, Molly discovers Slausen is the killer, who turns into his Davey persona when he wishes to spill blood.
Even though Tourist Trap never tries to be high art, it could've attempted a more original twist. Thanks to films like Psycho, the "killer is actually two personalities in one body" concept was a cliche long before this slasher came out in 1979. Also, it's never explained where Slausen got his psychic powers, so that plot point goes nowhere.
This epiphany makes less sense in hindsight, as Slausen holds the ensemble at gunpoint the first time he meets them, before then pretending to help them out. If he intended to slaughter them, why didn't he snuff them out then, rather than dragging everything out and risk being killed... which is exactly what happens.
The Tourist Trap is reasonably entertaining, but the final revelation creates massive plot holes that ruin the experience.
