As such, eagle-eyed fans will stay vigilant while watching a slasher or found-footage flick, just to make sure they don't get caught out. For people like this, a horror film isn't just entertainment - it's a homework assignment.

But when a juicy red herring is dangled in front of us, it's tough not to focus on it, losing sight of the bigger picture. Alternatively, a story might spell out what's going to happen in such a subtle way, nobody notices. During a rewatch, viewers will be dumbfounded how they fell for such an obvious ruse or didn't pick up on the trail of breadcrumbs.

Although it's frustrating to fall for such cheap tricks, it makes the horror community appreciate these movies more, since it demonstrates how clever they are. 10. The Girls Keep Hinting Their True Identities - Trick 'R' Treat

In one scene, Laurie and her friends are getting ready to hit the town while dressed as fairytale princesses. Although it looks like the girls are trying to hook up with someone, it's later revealed they are werewolves, keenly seeking out their next meal.

Even though this reveal seemingly comes out of nowhere, the ladies' true intentions are teased repeatedly when they're introduced. On the first watch, viewers don't understand the women are being literal while discussing "fresh meat" and how they hope to avoid eating "bad Mexican" like last time.

When Laurie refuses to come out of her cubicle, Danielle says, "I'll huff and I'll puff", blatantly admitting she's a Big Bad Wolf.

While watching Trick 'R' Treat for the second time, viewers will be kicking themselves, trying to understand how they didn't pick up on the abundance of clues.
