3. Killing Virgins - Cherry Falls

A movie made with nothing but horny teens in mind both for its characters and audience members, Cherry Falls directly challenges horror's notions of sexuality by subverting the death-by-shag trope into it being the only way to survive. When a town is plagued by a serial killer that targets only those that haven't had sex, teenagers are scared into shagging themselves silly so as not to be next on the hit list - a welcome change from only those 'sexually pure' being allowed to survive till the end of a movie.

It's not a big change, or a particularly noticeable one considering the rest of Cherry Falls functions as expected within the genre guidelines of a slasher, but it is a refreshing take on bodily autonomy that sees central character Jody make decisions right for her and stick to them. Instead of giving into pressure to have sex, she fights for her right to choose in tandem with fighting for her life, and those that decide that the hunting lodge orgy is right for them aren't vilified either.

A teen horror movie that transforms the antiquated perception of doing the do is a welcome rule-breaker.
