10. Lance Preston - Grave Encounters

Grave Encounters centres around self-proclaimed ghost hunter Lance Preston, who hosts a paranormal reality show. Though Lance emphasises everything on the program is legit, he stages scares, pays actors to lie, and manipulates footage. Lance has no belief in the supernatural whatsoever, so it's apparent he's only doing this for the money.

When he learns about an abandoned hospital where the staff conducted lobotomies on patients, Lance decides to dedicate a whole episode to it. But once he and his crew lock themselves inside the building, it isn't long before they're tormented by the spirits of the former occupants. 

Despite doing all they can to escape, the crewmembers are picked off one by one until Lance is all by himself. Trapped in the facility for an indeterminate length of time, our host is forced to eat rats to stay alive, and he's eventually lobotomised by the facilitator's spirit, becoming a part of the haunted house story he initially mocked.

Although Lance's fate is tragic, it's 100% his fault. He cons viewers with his fake show, walks into a ghost-infested hospital despite the warning signs, and deliberately antagonises the spectres for the sake of entertainment. 

Lance Preston may not be evil, but what happened to him is a textbook example of poetic justice.
