10 More Movie Mistakes Directors Refused To Fix Because The Acting Was Too Good

10. Jane Russell Takes A Dip - Gentlemen Prefer Blondes

From 1953 comes Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, a movie musical starring Marilyn Monroe and Jane Russell. If you've never heard of it, then you'll have at least heard of its most famous song - Diamonds Are a Girl's Best Friend.

If you haven't, then quite frankly what are you doing with your life.

Whilst Monroe has obviously gone on to achieve megastar status, at the time it was Russell who was the more accomplished performer. She lived up to her status as an icon when a scene by a swimming pool went horribly, hilariously wrong.

The closing sequence for the number Ain't There Anyone Here For Love involved several muscular men in tiny trunks leaping over Russell as she sat by the edge of the pool. Unfortunately for her, one of these hunks was a little too beefy, clipping the back of her head with his leg and sending her crashing into the pool.

Because Russell was an absolute pro, she carried on, emerging from the pool to finish the song. The blunder fit her character perfectly and is probably the best bit of the entire scene.
