10 More Movie Scenes Shot For Real
From crashing planes, to helicopter brawls; these movie scenes were very much shot for real.
We live in an age where it's never been easier to convincingly throw a character into the thick of an insane, out of this world set piece with the click of a button. Well, a click of quite a few very specific buttons over an extended period of time, but you get the point.
So, the feat of actually pulling off an impressive act or high octane set-piece for realsies has become something of a dying breed when it comes to the art of moviemaking.
But, thankfully, it isn't completely extinct just yet. For every CGI-crafted shot of an A-lister colliding with an imposing extra terrestrial, you can still count on another director bringing in a team of dedicated stunt professionals or even dumping the actor themselves into the thick of the action to achieve that all important close-up on the day.
From gifted thespians legitimately nailing insane achievements in front of an astounded cast and crew, to generational talents opting to blow up aircrafts like it's going out of fashion, there wasn't a green screen in sight when it came to these movie moments; they were 100% real, folks.
10. Kingpin - Three Strikes In A Row
There's no escaping the fact that some shots are always going to be more difficult than others to capture in one go. For example, a scene depicting an actor picking up an apple, in theory, will be far easier to nail in one than, say, bowling three strikes in a row.
Yet, when it came time to shoot that exact sort of sequence in Peter and Bobby Farrelly's sports comedy flick Kingpin , the directors weren't counting on their leading man smashing it out of the park on the first try. But seeing as though said star went by the name of Bill Murray, something special was always on the cards, right?
Despite the brothers both admitting that the shot, which involved Murray's Ernie "Big Ern" McCracken pulling off the trifecta of strikes in a row, would likely take a while to get, masterful Murray had other ideas. In quite literally the first three shots he threw in front of the camera, the comedy legend hit a legit 'Turkey'.
Needless to say, those extras in attendance didn't do much acting by the time the third ball hit the pins.
