The twelfth film in the James Bond series and the fifth with Roger Moore in the title role, this 1981 movie was based on both the short story of the same name by Ian Fleming and a second named 'Risico'.

Film makers were keen to return to a more serious tone after the previous few entries had been either fanciful or cheesy and the critical response was middling. As with all James Bond films - and the main reason they have been made for as many decades as they have - it cleaned up at the box office making almost seven times its budget back.

One of the most iconic scenes in the film sees 007 involved in a ski chase while henchmen attack him on skis and motorcycles across the snowy hills. There is some stellar stunt work with near-misses aplenty as they barely miss groups on the busy slopes and drive through crowds, over tables and off jumps.

However, the bobsled pilot named Paolo Rigoni was killed during a shot where skier, bobsled and motorbike all take to the icy track. On one of the final takes, the bobsled overturned and Rigoni was trapped underneath, losing his life.
