10 More Star Wars Scenes Even More Impressive When You Know The Truth

10. A Rainstorm Almost Ruined Everything - A New Hope

Tatooine. Arguably the most important planet in all of Star Wars.

It's the first planet we visit in the Skywalker saga and the final one. In the order in which they were made, of course. Otherwise we'd be sat here talking about Naboo.

The surface of the twin-sunned desert world was mimicked here on Earth in Tunisia, a very dry country right next to the Sahara. Great, thought George Lucas, what could possibly go wrong? Then the heavens opened.

The shooting of the first scenes on Tatooine was significantly delayed because of a rare rainstorm. And when we say rare, we mean rare. That spot hadn't seen rain in seven years.

Thankfully, Lucas did what he does best and ignored the obvious signs. He persisted, and finally captured those iconic scenes on the Skywalkers' home world.

Here's a bonus factoid for you about the filming in Tunisia. C-3P0 actor Anthony Daniels had a rough old time when he first got into the costume, as a piece of it broke off and stabbed him in the leg!

Seriously, whatever divine being is up there, they did not want to see Star Wars get made.
