The wonderful Bong Joon-ho isn't what you'd call the most prolific movie director working in the business today.

But when the mind behind the likes of Snowpiercer, Okja, and Mother does commit himself to a new project, something special and hugely unexpected arriving in theatres down the road is almost always guaranteed.

And after not helming a flick since his Oscar-winning black comedy thriller Parasite stunned audiences back in 2019, Joon-ho will return with his latest dive into the sci-fi genre in 2024.

Starring the likes of Robert Pattinson, Mark Ruffalo, Toni Colette, Steven Yeun, and Naomi Ackie, this epic cast will help tell Mickey 17's tale - a figure described as an "expendable" employee in the middle of a human expedition to colonise a new world.

It's all based on the Mickey7 novel, written by Edward Ashton, with the death of every Mickey leading to another being cloned and taking its place, and that new figure possessing the majority of the memories of its predecessor.

That barmy concept, combined with an absolutely stacked cast and a Joon-ho at the peak of his powers, looks like a recipe for gripping success when it releases on March 29, 2024.
