2. Laura To Andy & Piper - Bring Her Back

In Bring Her Back, teenage Andy and his visually impaired step-sister, Piper, discover their abusive father dead in the shower, covered in vomit. As grim as that image is, this is only the beginning of the siblings' problems.

After the funeral, they're adopted by an ex-counsellor, Laura, who's already caring for a troubled boy, Oliver. Initially presented as a nurturing parent figure, Laura drives a wedge between the children by doting on Piper while gaslighting Andy. As Andy pushes back, Laura carefully turns Piper agains him, leaving him powerless to protect his sister.

Although Laura behaves like she cares for Piper, her behaviour is performative. The truth is Laura plans to use Piper as a vessel to resurrect her dead daughter, Cathy. If that wasn't twisted enough, Oliver is revealed to be a kidnapped child possessed by a demon, who's tasked with transferring Cathy's soul into Piper through a cannibalistic ritual.

Even though Laura comes to her senses and releases Piper, her behaviour is deplorable. She abducted a child, stuck a demon inside him, had the dark entity eat her dead daughter, killed anyone who got in her way (including Andy) and attempted to murder a blind girl.
